CHILDBIRTH HELPED LAKE GET OVER CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE
RICKI LAKE was sexually abused as a young child - and didn't recover from the trauma until she'd had kids of her own.
The actress-turned-talk show host blames the abuse for her lifelong battle with obesity, claiming she piled on the pounds because she "didn't want to be attractive".
But Lake insists the birth of her kids Milo, 12, and Owen, seven, set her on the road to recovery.
In her new book for expectant parents, Your Best Birth, the 40-year-old writes, "I was sexually abused (around) age six or seven."
She adds of the affect childbirth had on her, "I was able to look at my body and see what it was able to do and embrace it. Sort of let go of all the body image issues. There's a potential healing process that can take place for women, if they're just in touch with it."
