CHICAGO & EARTH, WIND & FIRE TO RECORD AN ALBUM TOGETHER?

Supergroups EARTH, WIND & FIRE and CHICAGO are planning to hit the studio together to record a new album.
The members of the two groups have become firm friends after touring together for years and they recorded a charity single together last year (08) in a bid to raise cash for world hunger charities. And now they're planning a whole album of new material.
Chicago's Robert Lamm tells Billboard.com. "It obviously has to genetically reflect where the two bands are coming from sonically and writing-wise, but I'm hoping that something new could emerge, something modern, something contemporary that the sum of the two bands is greater than that, so that's my fantasy of what it could be."
The two groups' 2009 summer tour kicks off next week (05Jun09) in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago have put together a special set of songs for download, with proceeds going to World Hunger Year. The tracks include Chicago's cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's I Can't Let You Go and Earth, Wind & Fire's rendition of Chicago's Wishing You Were Here. The two bands also collaborated on a new song, called You.
