CHEN QUITS ACTING TO 'HEAL HIMSELF'

Asian film star EDISON CHEN is stepping away from the big screen to escape the furore caused by the public release of sex tapes allegedly showing him in bed with a variety of female celebrities. The video, which Hong Kong Police say captures 1,300 private shots of Chen with at least half a dozen women, was reported to have been copied by staff at a computer shop when Chen put a faulty laptop in for repair. The Infernal Affairs star has apologised for the scandal and confirmed he will be taking a much-needed break from the spotlight. He says, "These photos were very private and have not been shown to people and were never intended to be shown to anyone. "I have failed as a role model. However I wish that this matter will teach everyone a lesson. I've decided to do this to give myself an opportunity to heal myself and to search my soul." Hong Kong police have so far made 10 arrests in connection with the scandal.
