CHEADLE MAKES SURPRISE LECTURE APPEARANCE
HOTEL RWANDA star DON CHEADLE shocked a class of university students in Los Angeles on Monday (24Sep07), when he made an unannounced appearance on campus to discuss the genocide in Sudan's war-torn Darfur region.
The actor, who appears in upcoming documentary movie Darfur Now, which he also produces, debated African politics at the Managing New Global Challenges class at the University Of Southern California.
As he entered the classroom, Cheadle joked, "George Clooney is sick today!" - suggesting students would have preferred a visit from his more famous Ocean's Thirteen co-star and friend, who is also a celebrity campaigner for Darfur's struggles.
He later added, "High school and college-age students are the ones right now making the hugest impact and getting their voices heard. I've seen change happen, but (the Darfur situation) didn't happen overnight, so it won't change overnight."
