CHARLIE WILSON SUES OVER COMMERCIAL
R+B star CHARLIE WILSON is suing Capitol Records, EMI Music and Heineken Inc, claiming a song he recorded with SNOOP DOGG was used in a beer commercial without his permission.
The frontman of The Gap Band, filed a lawsuit at Manhattan federal court on Friday (8Jun07).
It alleges portions of Beautiful were used in an ad for Heineken Premium Light Beer - having been licensed by Capitol without the proper permission.
Wilson also claims EMI owes him hundreds of thousands of dollars for Beautiful and another song he recorded with Snoop Dogg, You Got What I Want. Both tracks appeared on Snoop's 2002 album Paid Tha Cost to Be Da Boss.
