CHAKA KHAN GETS A CAREER BOOST FROM BEYONCE'S DAD

Soul legend CHAKA KHAN is hoping to give her comeback a Beyonce boost - she's releasing her new album on the label run by the pop superstar's dad. The Ain't Nobody singer's new Classikhan project will be released on Mathew Knowles' Music World Master Series. Knowles will also be giving soul group The O'Jays a boost by releasing their new album Imagination on his new label. Both discs will be released next month (May07) as part of Knowles' Music World Master Series catalogue collection. Beyonce's dad says, "Classic soul has always been one of my favourite genres of music. It was very important to me to contribute to preserving the legacy and staying power of legendary artists such as Chaka Khan and The O'Jays. "Re-introducing these great artists and their talents, experience, work ethics, and commitment is a vital message to the young artists in the music industry today. "They have had the ability to stay in the game for over 30 years with numerous hits." Khan's new release features a collection of pop and jazz standards originally recorded by the likes of Shirley Bassey and Frank Sinatra.
