CATHEY AVOIDED THE WIRE

THE WIRE star REG E. CATHEY refused to watch the hit TV show for two years - after producers declined to give him a role.
Cathey, who plays political aide Norman Wilson in the gritty drama series, was desperate to land a part in the pilot because he knew the programme would be a huge success.
He tried out for countless roles but was repeatedly turned down - and he was so annoyed, he refused to watch the show when it aired.
Cathey says, "What's funny is I auditioned for every single part before the pilot. They brought me in and I auditioned for the white people, the black people, the cops, the villains - I thought, 'I've got to get something' and I got nothing!
"So I didn't watch that show for the first two years. I was sulking."
