CARS MOTORS TO UK BOX OFFICE POLE POSITION
Animated movie CARS has raced to the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart, sinking nearest rival PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST. The Pixar film, which features the voices of OWEN WILSON, PAUL NEWMAN and BONNIE HUNT, raked in GBP2.7 million ($4.8 million) last weekend (29-30JUL06), ahead of Pirates' swashbuckling GBP2.6 million ($4.7 million) bounty. Together, the movie pair made more than the rest of the box office top ten put together. VINCE VAUGHN and JENNIFER ANISTON's THE BREAK-UP dropped down a place to number three, while the Man Of Steel could do nothing to stop SUPERMAN RETURNS slipping to four. STORMBREAKER rounds out the UK top five.
