CARREY AND CARELL BRING SEUSS BACK TO SCREEN

JIM CARREY is to bring DR SEUSS back to the big screen in 2008 - he will play the lead character in a computer-animated movie adaptation of 1954 kid's classic HORTON HEARS A WHO. Carrey, who played THE GRINCH in Seuss favourite HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS in 2000, will star alongside STEVE CARELL, who has signed up to play the MAYOR OF WHO-VILLE. The movie is in pre-production at Twentieth Century Fox, with Seuss's widow AUDREY GEISEL serving as an executive producer. Twentieth Century Fox Animation chief CHRIS MELEDANDRI says, "Geisel had one of the greatest imaginations of the 20th century, and Jim Carrey's extraordinary talents are a wonderful match to Geisel's vision. "Steve Carell will not only be bringing his great comedic abilities to the role of the Mayor but also his uncanny gift of finding the humanity in every character he plays."
