JOSE CARRERAS - CARRERAS QUITS OPERA

CARRERAS QUITS OPERA

JOSE CARRERAS has taken his final bow - the Spanish tenor has confirmed he is to retire from opera.
The 62-year-old admits he can no longer meet the demands of his operatic roles, and has decided to end that side of his career.
He says, "If I can do concert recitals, adapting the repertoire to my needs, then no problem, that's good enough. But with operas, unless the right circumstances come up, my career is done."
Carreras' retirement leaves 71-year-old Placido Domingo as the last remaining member of the famous Three Tenors still performing operas, following the death of Luciano Pavarotti in 2007.
