CARLYLE 'THRILLED' TO BE IN 28 WEEKS LATER

The long-awaited zombie sequel 28 WEEKS LATER was premiered in London last night, with star ROBERT CARLYLE admitting it was a "privilege" to act in the film.

Original horror flick 28 DAYS LATER proved so popular in 2002, director DANNY BOYLE and writer ALEX GARLAND have teamed up again for the sequel, set in a killer virus-ridden London.

Carlyle, who plays the father of the film's two heroes, admitted last night that he was such a fan of the first film, which starred CILLIAN MURPHY and former DR WHO actor CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON, that he was thrilled to be in the sequel.

He told London's Metro newspaper: "I loved the first one, I really did. I love all of Danny's work, I'm a great fan of Danny's. I absolutely loved it so it was a privilege to be involved in the second one."

The movie centres on London six months after the Rage virus swept through the country in the first film. Although none of the original cast are involved, a new team of characters are involved in some terrifying zombie scenes as the virus returns to the streets of the capital.
