CAPOTE PRODUCER BEGINS LEGAL BATTLE OVER PROFITS

One of the producers of big-screen biopic CAPOTE has launched a legal case over unpaid revenue generated by the 2005 film. MICHAEL OHOVEN filed a lawsuit against fellow producer and business partner WILLIAM VINCE and company Infinity Features Entertainment, in the British Columbia Supreme Court in Canada on Thursday (22MAR07) for failing to distribute profits fairly. The film grossed over $49 million (GBP25.1 million) at the box office worldwide, and Ohoven alleges the pair agreed to a 60/40 share of profits from Capote in a bid to take advantage from Canadian tax credits, but Vince later transferred 100 per cent of the Infinity ownership into his name without prior consent of Ohoven. Ohoven is now seeking 50 per cent of all past and future revenue from Infinity Features Entertainment. The pair were Oscar-nominated in 2006 for their work in the PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN-starring film.
