CAMERON DOUGLAS WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR THREE YEARS

MICHAEL DOUGLAS' actor son CAMERON had been under investigation by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) authorities for three years prior to his arrest in New York on Monday (03Aug09).
Douglas, 30, was busted in a drugs raid on his room at Manhattan's Hotel Gansevoort and taken into custody on suspicion of possessing methamphetamines with intent to distribute.
Reports suggest the It Runs In The Family star had been plotting to move approximately $18,000 (£12,000) of crystal meth from California to New York and sell it when an undercover informant alerted the DEA of Douglas' involvement.
According to TMZ.com, federal authorities have been monitoring Douglas' movements since 2006. During that time, they gathered enough evidence to prove he sold "multiple pounds" of the illegal substance to several people. Three of Douglas' associates are co-operating with police in exchange for reduced sentences.
The federal complaint filed against Douglas also alleges the actor has deposited and withdrawn tens of thousands of dollars in cash from the drug deals.
Douglas is facing 10 years to life in prison if he is convicted of the drug charges.
