CAMCORDING EXPERT ARRESTED IN CANADA
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested a Montreal man who camcorded movies in local theaters and then technically enhanced them to remove the imperfections common with most camcorded movies available online before offering them for sale. RCMP Staff St. Noel St. Hilaire told the Canadian Press wire service, "It's a new technology. In the past the quality [of the camcorded product] was so bad that nobody was interested in buying it." The suspect, Geremi Adam, is due to be prosecuted under the Canadian Copyright Act since the country's recently enacted law barring camcording in theaters did not go into effect until after Adam was arrested.
