CAGE VISITS KENYAN PRISON

NICOLAS CAGE has visited a Kenyan prison holding suspected Somali pirates awaiting trial, in a bid to raise awareness of piracy in the Indian Ocean.
The Con Air star toured the Shimo La Tewa jail in the coastal town of Mombasa on Tuesday (17Nov09) and met inmates at the facility.
Cage, a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on Drugs and Crime, told The Associated Press Television News he wanted to meet the prisoners in a bid to understand what is fuelling piracy off the Somali coast.
He adds, "I'm in a position where I can actually make some sense and talk about it when I go back to the States, where I go talk to different UN councils and discuss the matter."
