CAGE LENDS BACKING TO HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN
NICOLAS CAGE has thrown his support behind a hospital campaign in Bath, England to build a new intensive care unit for babies.
The Hollywood star owns a townhouse in the historic city and has given his backing to the Royal United Hospital's Forever Friends Appeal to help raise the $4.5 million (£3 million) needed as a 'thank you' to locals for welcoming him into the area.
The National Treasure star even purchased a "baby brick", symbolising the real rubble needed to build the environmentally-friendly hospital ward, and encouraged others to do the same.
Cage says, "Please buy a brick, this is the last stretch to get that extra million, and it will be a green facility which is outstanding.
"I would like to say thank you to all of you who have been so gracious in inviting me and giving me a warm welcome to your wonderful and historic city. Anything that I can do to give back and say thanks I am going to do."
Cage recently sold off another property he owned in Bath.
The actor is facing his own money woes - he recently filed suit against his former business manager, accusing him of financial mismanagement after he was hit with a $6 million (£4 million) tax lien from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
