BYRNE'S BRUSH WITH DEATH IN THE OUTBACK

Actor GABRIEL BYRNE narrowly avoided a fatal snakebite while filming his new movie in the Australian outback. The star was left shaken by the incident, on the set of Jindabyne, but his laid back director wasn't worried. Byrne says, "I was walking through the Bush one day and I stepped on a Brown-headed snake. If I'd stepped on the other end he'd have bitten me - and the bite can be deadly. "I said to Ray (Lawrence, director), 'I was almost killed!' And he said, 'No worries mate. You would have had 24 hours.'"
