BYRNE AND FATBOY SLIM WRITE IMELDA MARCOS TRIBUTE ALBUM
Rocker DAVID BYRNE and DJ FATBOY SLIM are collaborating on a new album, inspired by flamboyant former Philippines first lady IMELDA MARCOS.
Byrne reveals the LP will be a "disco musical" about the early life of the 79-year-old, the widow of dictator Ferdinand Marcos, who died in 1989.
Byrne tells Interview magazine, "I did research and discovered there was this story not just about her, but about the woman who raised her - their parallel lives, and how they became estranged.
"Imelda spent a lot of time in New York, going to clubs. She converted a floor of her New York townhouse into a kind of a club with a mirror ball and everything."
