BUSH ASSASSINATED IN NEW DRAMA

British broadcaster Channel 4 is set to premiere a controversial new drama detailing a fictional assassination of US President GEORGE W BUSH at the Toronto Film Festival next month (SEP06). DEATH OF A PRESIDENT is filmed in the style of a real-life documentary, using a blend of computer generated special effects and archive-type footage to show Bush arriving at an anti-war rally in Chicago, Illinois in 2007. In the programme, which will be broadcast on the UK digital channel More4 in October (06), Bush is killed by a sniper and the ensuing investigation leads to a Syrian-born suspect. More4 boss PETER DALE says, "It's a pointed political examination of what the war on terror is doing to the American body politic. "I'm sure there will be people upset by it. I hope people will see the intention as a good one."
