BUNNYMEN STAR MCCULLOCH CLEARED OF ASSAULT

ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN frontman IAN MCCULLOCH was yesterday (18SEP06) cleared of attacking two fans during a backstage dispute after a concert, but was found guilty of a breach of the peace. The 46-year-old had denied assaulting fans GARY DUNCAN and JULIET SEBLEY after the band's concert in Glasgow, Scotland's Barrowlands venue last October (05). However, Glasgow District Court found he had committed a breach of the peace by shouting, swearing and threatening Duncan and Sebley. The dispute arose when MCCulloch found the pair using a toilet backstage. Leaving court, MCCulloch said, "I love Glasgow. It is brilliant and the Barrowlands is the best venue in the world. I'm just glad it is all over. I look forward to playing Glasgow again."
