BRUCE & BIRTHDAY BOY BRUBECK LAND KENNEDY CENTER HONOURS

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and jazz great DAVE BRUBECK are to be honoured with Kennedy Center honours when officials at the U.S. cultural mecca hand out accolades at a gala in December (09).
It'll be a birthday treat for Brubeck, who turns 89 on the day he's feted by his peers and President Barack Obama on 6 December (09).
Robert De Niro, Mel Brooks and opera star Grace Bumbry will also be celebrated at the 32nd Kennedy Center Honors Gala in Washington, D.C.
Brubeck is looking forward to meeting the President, who wrote about going to a Brubeck concert as a child in his memoir Dreams From My Father.
The Kennedy Center Honors recognise performing artists for their contributions to American culture.
