BROWN'S CLOSE CALL ON BIKE RIDE

Former SPICE GIRLS star MELANIE BROWN had a narrow escape when she was almost knocked down by a taxi during a bike ride in London.
The singer was enjoying a late-night pedal through the U.K. capital with husband Stephen Belafonte on Thursday (08Oct09) when she swerved in front of a cab outside the couple's hotel.
The taxi driver came within a whisker of colliding with Brown - but he clearly saw the funny side, yelling at her: "You stupid Spice Girl!"
An onlooker says, "Mel was lucky the driver saw her in time otherwise it could have been a nasty accident."
