BROWN: 'I TRY TO FORGET MY FIRST MEETING WITH WHITNEY'
BOBBY BROWN is still struggling to cope with the break-up of his marriage to WHITNEY HOUSTON - and tries to block out memories of the couple's first meeting at the Soul Train Music Awards.
As Houston opens up about her troubled marriage for the first time to Oprah Winfrey on U.S. TV, Brown has spoken out in a new TV documentary.
In an upcoming Behind The Music special, which will air on music cable channel VH1 in America later this month (24Sep09), Brown admits the fateful love-at-first-sight moment is "one of the things I try to forget".
And he refuses to accept he's to blame for the breakdown of his marriage and the couple's much-publicised drug abuse.
He adds, "I think we corrupted each other. I don't think she hurt me or I hurt her. I just think we had a 14-year marriage that had its ups and downs and not many people understood it."
But he tells news show The Insider he and his ex used "an awful lot" of cocaine.
Asked what sparked his own drug use, Brown states, "I think I was bored. I had just gotten married and things weren't right. Unfortunately, I turned to alcohol and drugs."
