BROSNANS HONOURED FOR CHARITY WORK

PIERCE BROSNAN and his wife KEELY SHAYE have been honoured for their work with a youth charity.
The former 007 star, 55, and Shaye, 45, were presented with the Responsible Activism in Media and Entertainment award at the second annual Jane Goodall Institute Global Leadership Awards Celebration in Washington, D.C., on Friday night (07Nov08).
The couple has been involved in the institute's Roots + Shoots global environmental youth programme since its inception in the early 1990s.
Brosnan told the fundraiser's audience, "Keely and I are honoured to be in Washington, D.C., at such an exciting time in this nation's history and to accept this award from our dear friend Dr. Jane Goodall."
And the actor admits it was his wife who inspired him to get involved.
He adds, "I have a wonderful wife in Keely, who is very versed in the world of green. This is a partnership now of 16 years and she has educated me on the environment and how to bring up children, whether it's the food they eat or the food that we grow at home in Hawaii - clean water, good vegetables, recycling."
Brosnan has two young sons with Shaye - Dylan, 11, and Paris, seven - as well as three grown children from his previous marriage.
