Veteran comedy writer and producer MEL BROOKS has spoken out about the death last year (05) of wife ANNE BANCROFT, confessing every day without her is "very hard". The Hollywood stars were married for 40 years before actress Bancroft died of cancer and THE PRODUCERS mastermind admits he's struggling to cope with his grief. He says, "We were together for so long. And I mean together, you know, a couple, a marriage, two people who loved to be with each other. "When you're so close to someone, for so long, it is very hard when they're gone. "So many memories, so many places I go and I'm wondering, what would Anne think of this?" The couple have one child together, a son MAX.
