BROOKIE STAR LOST WITH FERRELL

Former Brookside star Anna Friel is set to appear alongside Hollywood star Will Ferrell, it has been reported.

The former Channel Four soap actress is said to have been signed up to play the female lead in a new adventure sci-fi fantasy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, she will be starring opposite the Anchorman luminary in Land of the Lost.

Friel's Hollywood stock has risen dramatically in recent months and she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in Pushing Daisies.

Land of the Lost is broadly based on a 1970s children's show in which a family are transported into the land of the dinosaurs.

Scheduled for release in 2009 and directed by Brad Silberling, the show is being produced for Universal Pictures by Sid and Marty Krofft, the writers of the original series.

Friel has also appeared in Land Girls and Rogue Trader, but it is her role as Charlotte Charles in Pushing Daisies where she has made her mark.

She was nominated for best performance by an actress in a television comedy or musical for her displays on the ABC series but lost out on the Golden Globe to 30 Rock's Tina Fey.
