BRITNEY SPEARS' mother has spoken out about her troubled daughters, insisting she's "doing as well as can be expected" amid constant media attacks on her parenting skills. Lynne Spears and her pop star daughter ended months of estrangement on Monday (28Jan08) when the pair were spotted shopping together in Los Angeles. Footage of the Spearses' late night pharmacy trip suggested both mum and daughter are struggling with their emotions, and now Lynne tells U.S. publication Life + Style she's trying to cope. While Britney faces attacks on her mental state, teenage sister Jamie Lynn is in hiding in Louisiana after announcing she's pregnant. The girls' troubled mother says, "Britney’s on my mind day and night. She never leaves my thoughts. "I love Britney dearly. I want nothing more than to protect her and make everything all right for her. "And Jamie Lynn’s my baby. I'm doing my best. I'm doing as well as can be expected.” Sources tell the publication Lynne agreed to fly to Los Angeles from her home in Louisiana after receiving a desperate call from her eldest daughter. The insider says, "Britney called her on January 25th. She told her, `I’ve got to get my boys back and I can’t do it without you.' "Lynne, who hadn’t talked to Britney in ages, was shocked at first. It was the moment she’d been waiting for."
