BRITNEY: SECOND MOST ELEGANT WOMAN?

Britney Spears has been voted the second most elegant woman, beating beauties Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett.

The princess of pop came second only to real royalty, with Denmark's Australian-born Princess Mary taking the top spot and being named as, "the epitome of elegance."

Aussie star Natalie Imbruglia and Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones were also honoured in the top ten.

Readers of Hello magazine were asked to vote for their favourite graceful star and voters clearly love their royals. The top ten was dominated by Jordan's Queen Rania, Spain's Princess Letizia and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, all applauded for their chic style and majestic dressing.

According to the celebrity magazine, Britney has, "never been a slave to fashion trends, opting instead to follow her own choices", an admirable quality according to the voters.

The Toxic star herself might be surprised with such an accolade. Her partying antics since her separation from aspiring rapper, K-Fed, have been widely condemned by the fashion police.

Just last month, Mr Blackwell's worst dressed list saw Britney at the top alongside heiress pal, Paris Hilton. The scathing inventory of celebrity fashion mishaps labelled Britney a, "scream girl" and "style-free and fashion deprived". Meow.
