BRITISH AUDIENCES SAY YES TO NEW JIM CARREY COMEDY

The top spot in the UK box office charts has been claimed by Yes Man, the new comedy starring Jim Carrey.

Based on the bestselling memoir by Danny Wallace, the Warner Bros picture sees Carrey as a frustrated bank worker who opts to change his life by saying "Yes" to every opportunity.

With box office receipts of £2.3 million in its first three days on release, Yes Man debuted at the top of the UK box office charts, with last week's number one Twilight falling to fifth.

Adam Sandler's children's comedy Bedtime Stories - also starring Russell Brand - entered the chart at number two while Australia was narrowly held in third after its first weekend in UK cinemas.

Period drama The Reader, starring Kate Winslet, is likely to compete for the number one next week with biopic Che and comic book adaptation The Spirit.
