BRITAIN VS AMERICA AT NME AWARDS

ARCTIC MONKEYS, KASABIAN, THE KILLERS, MUSE and MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE will lead the way at this year's (07) NME Awards, after scoring four nominations each. After winning three awards at last year's ceremony, Arctic Monkeys have returned strongly with nods in the Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album and Best Music DVD categories. American rockers My Chemical Romance and The Killers will compete for Best International Band with CSS, THE STROKES and WE ARE SCIENTISTS. Elsewhere there were nominations for OASIS, THE FOO FIGHTERS, BABYSHAMBLES, DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, THOM YORKE and JARVIS COCKER. The winners will be voted for by readers of British music bible NME (New Musical Express). The ceremony will take place in London on 1 March (07).
