BRIT AWARDS GO LIVE

Organisers have given the green light to plans to broadcast the Brit Awards live for the first time in nearly 20 years. The awards ceremony has been slammed as dull and predictable since bosses recoiled from a disastrous 1989 show by airing the prize-giving several days later. The shambolic episode saw model SAMANTHA FOX and veteran artist MICK FLEETWOOD struggle to present the show, while other lowlights included missed cues, audience heckling, and interminable acceptance speeches. However, Brits committee member PETER JAMIESON is confident the new format - which also includes fewer award categories - will be a success next year (14FEB07). He says, "British music is in one of its most exciting phases. So what better time to take the show live?"
