BRINKLEY SUPPORTS JOEL THROUGH SPLIT

BILLY JOEL's ex-wife CHRISTIE BRINKLEY has spoken out in support of the rocker after he announced his split from wife KATIE LEE.
Joel confirmed that he was separating from third wife Lee on Wednesday (17Jun09) following snaps of the 27-year-old dirty dancing with designer Yigal Azrouel appearing in the U.S. tabloids.
A rep for the Uptown Girl legend insisted the pair broke up after "much thoughtful consideration", and that the "decision to separate was absolutely unrelated to Yigal."
And supermodel Brinkley - who herself went through a messy divorce from Peter Cook last year (08) - is saddened by the news of her ex's heartache.
She tells Access Hollywood, "My heart goes out to them. It's sad news, but Billy is a great dad and a great friend, so of course, I wish him the best."
