BRIGHT EYES CANCEL V FESTIVAL SLOT

US group Bright Eyes, comprising singer-songwriter Conor Oberst and his band, have pulled out of V Festival due to illness.

In a statement posted on the group's website, the band blamed an unspecified "illness" on the cancellation of three headline shows and V.

They will now not perform at Bristol Academy on August 15th, Liverpool Academy on the 16th and Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall on the 17th.

The statement read: "Due to illness Bright Eyes have been forced to regretfully cancel this week's shows in Bristol, Liverpool and Nottingham as well as the planned appearance at V Festival.

"Bright Eyes would like to express their utmost thanks to all their fans and supporters and sincerely apologize for this unfortunate occurrence."

Bright Eyes were scheduled to play both Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffordshire, at V Festival and their headline slot on the Virgin Mobile Union will now be taken by Mexican band Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Meanwhile media reports suggest that Amy Winehouse could miss her slot at the festival.

The Sun has said that the singer entered a rehab retreat in Essex, going back on her previous promise of rehab? No, No, No.
