BRAZILIAN DRUMMER DE SOUZA DIES

Brazilian drummer ANTONIO LUIS ALVES DE SOUZA has died after suffering a heart attack. He was 54.
De Souza led Brazilian percussion band Olodum, and was also known for creating the samba reggae rhythm. He died on 31 October (09) at his home in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.
Nicknamed Neguinho do Samba (Little Black Samba Master), the musician lent his rhythms to Michael Jackson for his music video They Don’t Care About Us, directed by Spike Lee, in 1996.
He also played on Paul Simon 's 1990 album Rhythm of the Saints.
He is survived by seven children and six grandchildren.
