BOY GEORGE DENIES FALSE IMPRISONMENT OF MALE ESCORT

Former Culture Club singer Boy George has denied chaining a male escort to a wall.

The ex-1980s popstar pleaded not guilty to the charge of false imprisonment at Snaresbrook crown court, east London.

Boy George, who appeared under his real name George O'Dowd, spoke only to enter his plea and confirm understanding of his bail conditions, which ban him from contacting the alleged victim Audun Carlsen, 28.

The crown claims Boy George chained Mr Carlsen to a wall at his home in Shoreditch, east London, in April last year.

Following his plea, a trial date of November 24th was set. It is expected the trial will last five days.

After leaving court, the singer, who was dressed all in black, spoke only to say "no comment" to reporters.

Two years ago Boy George was ordered to clean litter from the streets of Manhattan after New York police were called to his apartment to investigate reports of a burglary but found cocaine in his apartment.
