BOY GEORGE BURIED HIMSELF IN BOOKS BEHIND BARS

Shamed singer BOY GEORGE read a string of classic novels during his stint in jail to help him pass the time.
The former Culture Club frontman was jailed in January (09) for the false imprisonment and assault of a male escort in 2007.
He served just four months of his 15 month sentence and was released in May (09) for good behaviour, and he reveals reading helped him deal with his time behind bars.
He says, “I felt strong throughout the whole thing because I knew there was a beginning and an end to it. So for me it was a matter of, 'Okay, so this is how long I’ll be here, what am I going to do with the time?' I read everything I could. I read Bleak House, The Catcher in the Rye, The Ginger Man, A Confederacy of Dunces."
