BORAT'S NEW TRAVEL GUIDE

Wacky comic character Borat Sagdiyev has already offered film audiences his impressions of America and the fictional Kazakh television reporter is now set to provide his own unique travel guide.

The brainchild and alter ego of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Borat seems to have truly taken on a life of his own and is to front a book of travel advice under a deal signed with Flying Dolphin Press.

Announcing the bizarre partnership, publisher Suzanne Herz revealed that the travel book would incorporate two separate titles, with one half of the guide dedicated to Borat's impressions of the US for Kazakhs and the other half a guide to Kazakhstan for western visitors.

"There is one and only Borat and we are honoured to have him join our pantheon of international writers," gushed Herz.

"There is no doubt he will deliver a brilliant book," she added.
Borat's growing cultural influence follows the success of his recent movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

The film, which premiered at the Cannes film festival last year, subsequently proved to be a hit at the international box office.

But Japanese fans are only now getting to see Borat's tongue-in-cheek take on America.

Variety magazine reports that the film's distributor Fox has been slow to introduce the movie to the Asian market and has taken a "cautious approach" to marketing the film in the country because cultural differences are likely to make Borat "less than accessible" to mainstream audiences there.
