BOOTSY COLLINS TO HEADLINE JAMES BROWN TRIBUTE
Funk legend BOOTSY COLLINS is to front a new concert initiative aimed at raising funds for a JAMES BROWN museum in Kentucky. The colourful star will headline the first in a series of annual tribute concerts honouring Brown on Saturday (22Dec07). Proceeds from the Madison Theater gig in Covington, Kentucky, featuring rappers Chuck D and Lil' Boosie, rocker Buckethead and Brown's backing band The Soul Generals, will help fund renovation plans at the late soul legend's first recording base, King Studios, and a museum. Brown, who died on Christmas Day last year (25Dec07), was Collins' mentor when he was starting out in music.
