BONO GETS HANDFULS OF PRAISE FROM CRUZ

U2 singer BONO has been snapped hand-in-hand with actress PENELOPE CRUZ, seemingly without his wife ALI HEWSON.

The Irish rock star, 47, was photographed holding hands with Cruz on a beach in Saint Tropez and in the same pose as they left the exclusive VIP Room nightclub in the French coastal resort.

And the pair were also joined by model HELENA CHRISTENSEN in the French Riviera, with the superstars taking a boat out of the Club 55 harbour in the town.

Cruz, who is said to be a big fan of Bono and his campaign work, is taking time out of shooting a new WOODY ALLEN movie in Spain.

Speaking to OK! magazine last year, she said: "I'm very interested in following up all the work Bono is doing. He's so powerful and so human and seeing him investing all his time and effort is something to admire.

"He's definitely getting the message across - I think he's definitely changing the world."

Bono, real name Paul Hewson, has been married to Alison Hewson since August 1982.
