BONO FILMS U.K. POLITICAL SUPPORT VIDEO

U2 frontman BONO has shown his support for British political party the Conservatives by filming a video urging them to continue with their current policies.
The Irish singer made a pre-recorded speech, which was shown at the party's conference in Manchester, England on Thursday (08Oct09), telling leader David Cameron to carry on supporting international aid during the global economic downturn.
He said, "Hello there, if you can swallow an Irishman saying what's great about Great Britain, indulge me for a minute. Because what's happened over the last few years regarding Britain's relationship with the developing world has been so inspiring to me.
"I would urge you conference - at a time of economic trauma - to meditate on the idea that cutbacks must not cost lives. Cutbacks must not cost lives. That's not my line by the way, that's yours, it's from a Conservative party paper. It's not a pop song but it certainly sticks in your head."
Bono recorded a similar message for the rival Labour party last week (begs28Sep09), praising British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's "staggering" results on development.
