Actress Helena Bonham Carter and her partner Tim Burton have announced they are expecting their second child.

Bonham Carter's representative told People: "[They] are very happy to be expecting their second child later this year."

The pair have a three-year-old son and met while on the set of Burton's remake of Planet of the Apes.

The award-winning director has made some of Hollywood's most memorable fantasy and sci-fi movies.

His films include Batman, Batman Returns, Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Bonham Carter has starred in a number of independent movies as well as Hollywood blockbusters.

She features in David Fincher's Fight Club, instalments of the Harry Potter franchise and Planet of the Apes.

The actress was also nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Wings of the Dove in 1998.
