BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY, AKON HIT BY NEW LAWSUIT

A U.S. music publisher has accused BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY, AKON and producer SWIZZ BEATZ of ripping off a 1970s song in a new lawsuit.
Songster alleges the rap group stole portions of the band Rasa's 1978 tune When The Day Will Come (aka KRSNA) for use in its 2007 single I Tried, which features vocals from R&B singer Akon and was produced by Swizz Beats.
The Texas-based firm claims to have alerted the defendants about the theft before the song and the album it is featured on, Strength & Loyalty, hit shelves.
The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday (14Jul09) in the Central District of California, claims a number of hip-hop stars - including KRS-One, Black Rob and Common - have sampled the song's chanting for their own projects after obtaining permission.
Songster is seeking to halt the sale of the CD in physical and digital stores and is also demanding all the profits earned from the track's sales.
