BOND COMPANY SIGNS HOLLYWOOD DEAL

The production company behind the JAMES BOND movie franchise has signed a multi-million dollar deal with a Hollywood studio which will see the firm branch out into different film genres.
British-based Eon Productions has teamed up with Columbia Pictures to develop a range of new films including thrillers and family-orientated movies which will all have budgets of up to $80 million (GBP40 million).
Five projects are currently in development and plans for a further ten movies are expected to be finalised by the end of the month (Apr08).
Eon hopes the move will allow more British writers to establish themselves in Hollywood.
Spokesman Alby James says, "Television is what we (British writers) do well. But we must add to what we do."
