BOLAN'S GIRLFRIEND DEFENDS THE ROCK ICON

Rock icon MARC BOLAN's former girlfriend GLORIA JONES has hit out at claims the late star beat her during a drunken rage. A former friend of the T-Rex star makes the claim in a new British TV documentary, which is due to be aired next week (08Sep07). But singer Jones, the mother of Bolan's son Rolan, has only positive memories of their time together. She says, "Who are these people to know anything? Were they in our house? Were they in our bed? No. We had privacy. "I remember it as a really exciting time for the both of us - musically and personally. We understood each other so well. I encouraged him, he encouraged him. I trusted his judgement and he trusted mine. We had a great partnership." The documentary marks the 30th anniversary of Bolan's death in a car crash.
