BOBBY BYRD DEAD AT 73

JAMES BROWN's longtime sidekick BOBBY BYRD has lost his battle against cancer. He was 73. The founder of Brown's backing band the Famous Flames, Byrd appeared on the Godfather of Soul's biggest hits, like Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex MAChine. He died at his home in Georgia on Wednesday (12Sep07) - almost nine months after Brown passed away on Christmas Day (06). As well as working with Brown, Byrd also wrote soul standards Hot Pants and I Know You Got Soul, which has been recorded by Public Enemy and Ice Cube, among others.
