R&B superstar MARY J. BLIGE has ruled out becoming an adoptive mum - because she's so busy, she would be a "poor parent".
The Family Affair hitmaker admits she's inspired by the selfless actions of Madonna and Angelina Jolie, but reveals she struggles as it is to spend quality time with her husband Kendu Isaacs' three children.
Speaking at the New Yorkers For Children Fall Gala in Manhattan on Wednesday (23Sep09), where she was honoured for her philanthropy, the singer said, "I don't think I'll do foster care or adopt, to be quite honest. I barely have time for my own children. To adopt more children and not have time for them, that (would be) poor parenting on my (part)."
Blige has no plans to start a family of her own, but insists she would happily volunteer to help less privileged youngsters.
