BLAIR APPEALS FOR PRIVACY FOLLOWING WILLIAM/MIDDLETON SPLIT

LATEST: British Prime Minister TONY BLAIR has appealed to the media to respect the privacy of young royal PRINCE WILLIAM and his ex-girlfriend KATE MIDDLETON following the announcement of their split. It was revealed on Saturday (14Apr07) the couple - who met as students at St. Andrews University in Scotland - had split after four years together. While the British press speculates as to the cause and the exact date of the break-up, Blair made a statement appealing for respect of the 24-year-old Prince and Middleton, 25. He said, "They should be left alone now without reams of stuff being written that I can assure you, from my experience of royal stories, most of which will be complete nonsense. "I think, now it has been announced, they should be allowed to get on with their lives."
