BLACK'S VIDEOGAME IN LEGAL ROW

JACK BLACK's videogame debut is at the centre of a legal row, which could keep the project off store shelves.
Bosses at gaming firm Activision Entertainment Holdings Inc. have sued developers Double Fine Productions Inc. in an effort to stop the release of Brutal Legend over a contract issue.
They claim the brains at Double Fine failed to deliver the game on time, and then offered the completed game to rivals at EA.
Brutal Legend, which is scheduled for release in October (09), features actor Black as heavy metal roadie Eddie Riggs, who is transported to a mythical ancient world.
EA executives have been promoting the game at the ongoing Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
The new lawsuit claims Activision paid Double Fine about $15 million (£10 million) to develop Brutal Legend, but the studio missed a deadline and asked for added time and more cash to finish the project.
The two companies failed to reach an agreement.
Activision bosses claim they never relinquished rights to the game and insist Double Fine bosses improperly transferred the Brutal Legend to EA.
