BJORK AND MONKEYS PERFORM AT COACHELLA
The Californian Coachella festival is underway and has already witnessed some frantic and at times bizarre performances.
Bjork closed the first night of the festival performing tracks from her forthcoming album Volta in a typically outrageous stage costume.
According to the NME, after soaking up the adulation of the crowd, Bjork exclaimed: "It's great to be here in the desert with you."
Earlier in the day current UK chart kings Arctic Monkeys performed a fast set drawing on tracks from both their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and their new album Favourite Worst Nightmare.
Alex Turner and co began their set as the sun went down and kicked off the show with current single Brianstorm before playing first album favourites I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor and From the Ritz to the Rubble.
The Monkeys finished their set with one-off single Leave Before the Lights Come On and first-album finisher A Certain Romance.
Other highlights from the first day's action included a set from Jesus and Mary Chain and Interpol, who gave fans a taste of their new album Love to Admire.
