BIG FOUR FILMS LAND SEVEN CRITICS CHOICE NODS APIECE

DREAMGIRLS, THE DEPARTED, BABEL and LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE have been given a huge Oscars push after landing seven nominations for the Broadcast Film Critics Awards. The Departed landed nods for Best Film, Best Director for MARTIN SCORSESE, Best Actor for LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, Best Supporting Actor for JACK NICHOLSON, Best Composer for HOWARD SHORE, Best Acting Ensemble and Best Writer. Babel earned nominations for Best Film, Best Supporting Actress for ADRIANA BARRAZA and RINKO KIKUCHI, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Soundtrack and Best Composer for GUILLERMO ARRIAGA. Little Miss Sunshine picked up a Best Film nomination, as well as nods for Best Supporting Actor for ALAN ARKIN, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Writer, Best Young Actress for ABIGAIL BRESLIN, Best Young Actor for PAUL DANO and Best Comedy. And DREAMGIRLS picked up nominations for Best Film, Best Director for BILL CONDON, Best Supporting Actor for EDDIE MURPHY, Best Supporting Actress for JENNIFER HUDSON, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Soundtrack and Best Song for LISTEN. The other movies up for Best Film are BLOOD DIAMOND, LETTERS FROM IWO JIMO, LITTLE CHILDREN, NOTES ON A SCANDAL, THE QUEEN and UNITED 93. The 12th annual Critics' Choice Awards will be handed out in Santa Monica, California on 12 January (07).
